Awards

At each conference, the Delaware Geographic Data Committee (DGDC) honors two people.

The first is the Delmarva Geographic Community Service Award, which is in memory of the late Vernon Svatos. This prestigious award is presented to an individual or group that has demonstrated outstanding service to the Delmarva GIS Community.  It is the intention of the award to recognize those who, either through a single effort or project or through consistent commitment, supported or fostered our geographic community. Learn more about this award, meet our past award recipients, and nominate someone today here (link will be active soon).

The second is for an educator who has been instrumental in furthering the use of digital spatial data, internet mapping services, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the Delmarva GIS Community. This is a great way for Delmarva K-12 teachers and students, Girl and Boy Scout Troops, 4-H Clubs and other community organizations to honor their GIS leaders. The Delaware GeoEducation Subcommittee makes the final selection and the award is presented to the recipient at the Delmarva GIS Conference. Learn more and meet our past recipients here.
